Born at Bamburgh, Northumberland, Grace Darling's fame is due to an act of great courage when with her father, Farne Islands lighthouse keeper William, she rescued the survivors of the shipwrecked SS Forfarshire on 7th September 1838. This book is an account of her life, and of life in Northumberland at the time.
