'OWING to the rapid growth of the various towns in the Staffordshire
Potteries, Newcastle and District, and the numerous changes
in the residences of manufacturers, traders, professional men, and
others, the Publishers have deemed it expedient to issue a new
edition of the Gazetteer and Directory, corrected down to date.
The efforts of the Publishers on former occasions have been received
with general favour throughout the District, and as they have
spared neither cost nor trouble to make the new work as complete
and as accurate as possible, it may reasonably be anticipated that
the present issue will be as acceptable as any that have preceded it.
The Directory contains an Alphabetical List and Classified Trade
List, and the greatest care has been taken to make this part reliable,
by securing the aid of intelligent and painstaking assistants.'
