In its arrangement the New Parliamentary Divisions have been
adopted instead of the old and nearly obsolete Wards; and the parishes
in each have been arranged in alphabetical sequence—with the exception
of Carlisle, the largest and most important town, which has been placed
last.
A copious index will still further facilitate reference.
