The Directory includes the following principal Sections : —

with:
(a) Particulars of its position, the railway and postal facilities, the area and
population figures and whether it is a parish, township, etc. ;
(b) The names (arranged alphabetically) and addresses of the Principal Private
Residents in that place;
and (c) The names (arranged alphabetically) and addresses of all those engaged
in any profession or trade in that place, together with telephone numbers.
(2) PRIVATE RESIDENTS SECTION—a general list of the Principal Private Residents
in the County (arranged alphabetically), together with telephone numbers.
(3) PROFESSIONAL AND TRADES SECTION—showing the
names and addresses of all those engaged in any profession or trade in the
County, arranged alphabetically under the various trade headings.
Information is also given at the commencement of the Directory as to the County
Council, County Magistrates, Petty Sessional Divisions,
Wards, Rural Districts and County Court Districts, the Diocese, Durham
University (King's College, Newcastle), Parliamentary Representation,
Military, Hunting, Fairs and Markets, a list of the Principal Seats — and other
general information relating to the County.
